Corporations aren't people

United Technologies arguably commits treason. Pays fine.

Not once, but many many times. "United Technologies Corp on Thursday admitted selling China software that helped Beijing develop its first modern military attack helicopter, one of hundreds of export control violations over nearly two decades." No one goes to jail. Fine the taxpayers. UT is treated just like any other person walking down the street.

Barclays Bank steals billions, maybe trillions. No one goes to jail. Settles up by paying a fine.

Over a period of years, executive staff of Barclays Bank attempted to manipulate the price of trillions of dollars worth of interbank loans by systematically falsifying data. The banks shareholders will pay a fine as a result, and the staff members held responsible won't get their bonuses this year.

Bad bank.
